Anahit Avagyan - The Unpublished Works of the Armenian Athanasian Corpus

Some works of the Armenian Athanasian corpus still remain unpublished and up till now are evidenced solely in manuscripts. The followings are to be mentioned:
- De divina doctrina mystagogiae catechumenorum
- Chronologia Athanasii cum genealogia secundum evangelium Matthei usque ad natum Sethi
- Supplicatio/preces ad s. virginem Maria
- Vita anachoretae/eremitae Pauli
- Confiteor Athanasii et Euphraemi
- Symboli varia sub nominem Athanasii
All these writings have no Greek original, i.e. either they are genuine Armenian compositions and not translations, or the Greek originals got lost. Even if the existence of Greek originals is possible, the Armenian texts themselves are unexplored, they could not be assigned to their originals. The alternative of another language of origin different from Greek is almost excluded, although theoretically not impossible.
The reasons of remaining unknown of these texts to the wide publicity vary. Customarily such writings are branded as pseudepigrapha ab initio. Nevertheless the pseudonymity is not the first reason for falling into oblivion of them.
Primarily the critical texts of these writings should be prepared and published and thereafter the common textual analysis should follow.
The short communication concerns the main topics and the first considerations of the examination of the above mentioned texts.
