Maijastina Kahlos: Heresy Test and the Barbarian Other

In my paper "Heresy Test and the Barbarian Other" I will discuss the inconveniences and ambiguities that the ecclesiastical leaders had to deal with when discussing Christian Goths. Most Gothic groups were converted into Christianity in its Homoian (‘Arian') version. The focus will be on fourth-century bishops such as Basil of Caesarea and Augustine of Hippo but other less well-known writers will be examined.
