The paper deals with the exegetical importance of Augustine's Work De ciuitate Dei, which has been long neglected. It deals with Augustine's De ciuitate Dei books XVI and XVII, focusing on the vocabulary used and the exegetical consequences that it has. The paper tries to show how Augustine makes an important exegetical work within the whole De ciuitate Dei, and as an example, only some text of books XVI and XVII are taken. It also shows the relationship of books XVI and XVII of De ciuitate Dei with other major exegetical works of St. Augustine, to underline the exegetical importance of St. Augustine's work.
