Satoshi TODA: Eusebiana Syriaca. A study in the Syriac translation of the works of Eusebius of Caesarea

Very early in the history of Syriac literature, an extensive translation into Syriac was made of the works of Eusebius of Caesarea; in some case its Greek original is preserved (e.g. Ecclesiastical History), and in another case the Syriac translation is the only extant version of the text (e.g. Theophany). This paper will try to examine “Eusebiana Syriaca” from various points of view, in order to see more clearly its significance both in the transmission of Eusebius’ works and in the history of Syriac literature.
