This presentation will focus on the great conversation about creation found in Eriugena’s Periphyseon: one goal is to see how he weaves together the various sources: his Hexaëmeron is in many ways unique because it echoes such a variety of ideas and voices.
The very preoccupation of Eriugena’s Hexaëmeron, as a physiologia which reads creation, is to discern the divine into the theophanies encountered in creation.
As we follow the conversation on creation and nature in the Periphyseon, we realise that Eriugena’s Neoplatonism is deeply Christian as it is deeply preoccupied with mediation through the incarnation in nature.
